Jordan installed the new dishwasher! It works so much better than the old one and gives us way more room in the kitchen. The only downside it that it makes me realize how old and faded the cabinets look.

Yes I know this house needs a lot of work but there is so much I love about it and I especially love making it our own. Check out these great reasons from Retro Renovation to love an older home!

Living the Dream

Well our birthdays rolled around again! How did we spend turning 28 and 32? By being awesome!

On Saturday (which was Jordan’s actual birthday) I gave Jordan the Lego Mindstorms robotics thingy which he absolutely loved.

Later we went out to dinner, then we went to the vintage toy store Big Fun and bought my birthday presents. I got an an amazing deal on some trolls including one from the 70s, 2 troll warriors and a large magic trolls (as in Magic Trolls and the Troll Warriors failed cartoon), a troll-in-the-box, a troll in a little car, a squishy troll, a picture of the first troll display at an old Cleveland department store, a sci-fi “coexist” bumper sticker and two vintage posters. Then we hit up a used book store and bought a whole bunch of great books.

As we were driving home Jordan made a good point. He asked, “How happy would we as kids be if we know how we as adults were spending our birthday?” The answer: they would have been ecstatic! We might not be rich but we are living the dream! I wish we could go back in time and tell our childhood selves how awesome things are going to be when we grow up. Since we can’t I will leave this inspirational XKCD comic for you to think about…what would your childhood self think of your life now?
